Brandenburg Gate

DDR Museum

This afternoon the students were able to experience life behind the iron curtain at the DDR Museum. The typewriter and 70s TV were firm favorites.

TV tower

When we arrived at the TV tower, we went into a lift which only took 40 seconds to reach the observation deck, which was 203m high. When the elevator doors opened we were met with a 360 degree, panoramic view of Berlin. The views were breathtaking, and we were able to see a range of famous landmarks throughout the city. It took forever to get the 41 of us down in the lift (it only carried 8 people at a time!).

Mr Vermaak marched us to the DDR museum in under 10 mins from the Alexander Platz which is where the TV tower is located.

We have arrived in Berlin

It's a lovely sunny day here. Perfect for a quick stop at the hotel then out to explore the city.

Count down to the trip

With only a matter of weeks to go before we set of for our three day visit to Berlin I have to confess the excitement is beginning to mount. Students are beginning to tell me how may days are left until we go. This is where I go the idea for this Blog. I hope that the students and Staff from Roding Valley High school will be able to share our thoughts and experiences of this visit with family, friends and the wider school community.

We will also be able to post information on twitter @humsrvhs and via the school website.
